Steelhead Fishing

Experience the excitement of steelhead fishing on one of our pristine rivers here in the Pacific Northwest. Steelhead are the most acrobatic, line screaming, bending your rod type of fighting fish. They are one of the most popular fresh water fish to catch in the Pacific Northwest and they are my personal favorite. We offer drift boat trips on the smaller rivers in Oregon and Washington along with jet sled trips on the larger rivers and the Columbia River. We have year round Steelhead fishing on the most premier Steelhead Rivers in the nation. These rivers are rich with nutrients and have great runs of returning hatchery and wild runs of Steelhead that migrate in from the Ocean to their spawning grounds. These rivers are serene with abundance of wildlife that you could experience. Bald eagles, ospreys, Ducks, Geese, Caspian turns, Wild turkeys, Blue Herons and Blacktail deer are just some of the Wildlife you could see on your trip of a lifetime. The river’s edge is lined with Big fir trees covered in moss, beautiful waterfalls from all the rain that comes in late fall through spring on the west side of the cascade mountain range in Oregon and Washington. In Oregon near Portland, or we offer trips on the Scenic Sandy river that flows off Mt. Hood glacier. We have deferent sections of the river that we fish from January through March.

In Washington the Klickitat River is on the Eastside of the Cascade Mountain Range which is drier climate. Big pine and oak covers the canyon walls that flows for over 35 miles off the Mt. Adams glacier that flows into the mighty Columbia River. On the West side in Washington we fish my hometown river the Washougal River, East Fork Lewis River, NF Lewis River, Kalama River and the Cowlitz River

The winter season starts in December and runs through March. The weather during this time of year can be cold and rainy with occasional snow showers. This time of year is for more of the dedicated Steelhead angler that can fight off the elements to have that chance of hooking up on a Line peeling steelhead. We offer jet sled and Drift boat trips this time of year from the larger Cowlitz River we fish in March to the Sandy, Kalama and Washougal rivers we fish Dec-March at different times. Our spring run starts in April and will continue into June depending on water flows. These rivers are all drift boat only rivers. This time of year you could experience our rainy season with temperatures in the low 40’s to high 50’s. We get an occasional sunny day as we later into spring. The summer season is June-August where we are fishing the Kalama and Klickitat rivers from our drift boats along with the Columbia River from our Jet Sled. This is our warmest time of year and in the West side the temperatures can reach the high 90’s in July early August. The Klickitat River in July can be in the 80’s and 90’s. We will fish the Klickitat River into the late fall ending in mid-October. You will experience cooler fall crisp morning with the day warming up into the high 60’s by mid-day. On all of our Steelhead trips depending on the time of year and rivers conditions you can expect to have 2-10 hook ups on any given trip. Our winter trips can offer the best fishing while we have the challenge of higher water conditions or the river could be high and dirty over night by the big rains we endure that time of year. On all of our trips our clients meet us at the boat ramp where ever it may be. If our clients need transportation to the fishing grounds it needs to be arranged ahead of time and there will be additional cost.
